This morning I was laying in bed for a long time. I got up. The usual thing happened where blood rushed to my head and my vision got really weird and pretty colors and really trippy for a couple of seconds. I love it when that happens so I decided to attempt to replicate it.
Original photo (my dad's camera makes a lot of noise which is usually not good but for this picture it was):

I wish it were summer really bad. I love summer. So I made this. It's my bathroom. I took it today, in the wintertime...but that's exactly what it looks like in the summer and I miss it.

I love how dreamy and surreal it turned out to be. That's all I did really: did a selective gaussian blur and then I made it looked dreamy and surreal and even more golden. If you look at it full-size, you'll be able to read the text written on the shower-wall-thing. Also playing off the Beatles song "Golden Slumbers." Which is really taken from a nursery rhyme. Yup.
I got a girlfriend on New Year's Eve! :-D Her name's Casey. She's beautiful.
Yay, I got a Wii! My arm hurts sooo bad because I was playing it all day yesterday :-(.
Well here's everything I did since my last post I guess. I'm having less and less time to post so they're getting really far apart. Sorry.
R.I.P. Tusko. This was made after I didn't get the part I wanted (Horton the Elephant) in the school musical...haha. So I just felt like making something with an elephant in it...for no reason. Hence Tuskan Dreams, obviously named after poor Tusko.
This was commissioned (for free) by my friend Sara...she just asked me to make something with the text "Smiling never hurt anybody...but frowning has!" so this is what I came up with.
This went into the Unpublished folder...Sara also asked me to make her a Beatles picture for her poster (in music we have to make a report and a poster about a composer/band). So there 'tis.
I finished a picture that promotes me, but I don't like it very much at all, mostly how the desk/chair cutting-out turned out. But I'll see if I can make more in the future that are better. I love the non-photographic image in it though. I'm quite proud of that. And my new motto is "forever..." to play on the Beatles song even more. I played electric keyboard to that song once, with live vocals, bass, guitar, orchestra, and everything, in front of about 500-700 people I think. That was a little bit random. Here's the picture.
The title is kind of self-explanatory. It's 2:26am right now. I woke up at about 12:30pm today, and I have to be at school by 7:45am, which means I have to leave the house at 7:35am. So I have five hours to go.
Well, this is what I did...last night or this morning? I think it was this morning. I've been doing so much lately with art and with everything else that everything's blurring together. Someone can say to me, "I saw you playing the piano yesterday, you were really good!" and I have noooo idea what I did yesterday, and then after thinking about it for ten minutes I finally remember, "It was the concert at the church!" or "I was playing at that store downtown!" Gaaah, this month has been brutal. So here is what I did this morning, I think.
I love how dreamy and surreal this looks. I listened to nothing but Sacred Ground by Jon Schmidt for this. I recall that almost every piece I've made on this blog has been done while listening to some music, and I was always careful to make sure the music had something to do with the piece.
My new method of creating a new piece without inspiration: Go to gimp-tutorials.com and pick a tutorial, do it, and do something with what you did. I always have an idea of something to do with what I just learned to do. For this one it was the infrared/monochrome effect tutorial. I loved that picture of the forest that was dream-ified and I wanted to do that with some of my own computer-generated land, so hence was born A Better Place. :-P.
I'm going to work on something right now, probably an image that promotes my art. I was just on Abduzeedo.com and I liked the way it had an image with the Abduzeedo logo on it, and I'd like to make an advertisement for myself. I don't think it'll be anything too fancy or abstract, right now I'm just envisioning a corporate office with a huge picture on a side wall that has vectors, Psychedelic Peace (which will be my logo), other stuff that I don't know about yet, and the word strawberryfields, maybe some more text, maybe my blog address. Who knows.
I figured out that if I want to make an emotional, longing, fantastic (as in fantasy, not quality) piece such as Cassiopeia, new age/ambient music like Enya and Sonosync help a lot. I was listening to Enya during Cassiopeia, and for this one I was listening to Enya, Sonosync, and Jon Schmidt. I think Only Time and Woodland Heath help out the best. Anyway, it took me a very very very very long time to find an acceptable picture of a mountain, probably about an hour, and then I didn't like the picture as it was because it was bright and sunny and stuff so I made some computer-generated clouds, put them behind the mountains, and set the mountains to Hard Light, and voilà, instant sunset! Took me a long time to find an animated sparkle brush, and for some reason, when I finally got one, and made sure it was animated, The GIMP never animated it...so I had to settle for manually changing the size of some sparkles as the trail progresses. Gah. Here 'tis.
Today was a really bad day for me. First I had to go to a freaking piano recital, and I had an hour to get ready and so my mom was screaming at me that I was being too slow the whoooole time. Then we went to the mall and I got my hair cut. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!!!!!!! So here's two pictures that I did yesterday because I don't feel like talking about them. Not much to talk about anyway.
This is my faaaavorite now. I would make it my profile picture but I don't want people to think it's a picture of me, so I'll leave it be for now.
I'm really proud of how well I cut the woman out, so I'll show you the original picture:

That's all I have to say really...this is pretty much all I did the whole snow day. :-P.
Since I got my MySpace, my life has more revolved around that than Vox. So I finally found time to post here because we have a snow day today. Yaaaay! :-)
On Saturday I finished my Christmas piano CD, and I will post all of the songs on here after everyone I send the physical thing to has theirs sent to them. I know my art teacher knows the address to my blog, and he's getting a CD, so he's the main reason I'm not posting the songs yet. No sneak peeks. :-) It was when I was coming home from the recording studio that I made Panic! At The Disco (the picture)
On Sunday Zack Wagner (the singer I was playing for) finished his CD, and I played for three of the songs, which I will also post once I get a CD that was burned right. I got a CD but most of the songs were burned weird.
This is kind of out of order, but on Saturday night John (here's his blog) came over. And that's when I did Migration to Sphacele and Envy. My room still stinks like too many kinds of incense. He's incense-crazy and he wanted to see what, like, three of them smelled like. He doesn't really seem to understand the fact that incense is meant to smell good. Roasted Cappuccino + Pumpkin Spice + Opium (it's just a scent) = Not Pleasant.
Well, I have 5 pictures done that you haven't seen yet, so here they are.
That's John. This one actually has a meaning. The brightly-colored part is the '60s, and it slowly progresses to monotonic and gray as it reaches the 2000s. Which is the purpose of the title.
No subject matter, but I didn't intend this one to be a really good one to sit and look at, it's more just a cool wallpaper than anything. I love the title though. :-D
Besides the text, this is actually a photograph of a laser pointer pointing right into the camera lens. The camera seems to change what it looks like about two times a second, and I loved those crescents, so I had to wait until it looked like this to change the picture. And then I twiddled with the colors and contrast and stuff so that the crescents stood out, but other than that and the text I didn't do too much to this one. It's just awesome by itself. I also love the little white Vs, they look kind of like birds, hence the name Migration. I just got the word Sphacele from a random word generator set to Obscure mode :-D. It's a pretty word though.
I like the color of this one. That's a clay dragon at the bottom, by the way, blowing smoke out of its nostrils. I love my various incense burners. This one can only hold little blocks, though, and the only little blocks I have are wood-fire scented. Nothing wrong with that, but a variety would be nice. Anyway, if you can't read it backwards, the text says (backwards) "just fly to the wind. how simple." That's regarding the simplicity of the smoke. Hence Envy. I loooove how the vials of incense at the left-bottom corner look. That's my favorite part of the whole picture. Like Looking Forward to a Dimmer Tomorrow and Migration to Sphacele, the photograph's by me again.
As you might have guessed from the fact that this isn't 1280x800px, this is in my Unpublished folder and was just for my icon on my MySpace because people didn't know who I was because my icon used to be Borealis Dreams, which only shows the back of me. This way people know who I am. I wear glasses though, but I hate how I look with glasses. I don't have contacts, but I'm making an appointment to try them at the optometrist's office. I don't like things touching my eye. I got 8 comments on this picture so far on MySpace though. Which is nice.
I love this. I took the photographs when John was over but didn't arrange them in a picture until yesterday, I think. Maybe Tuesday. They're just random pictures that were accidentally taken really close up to my face for no reason. I don't remember why they were taken, I just remember they weren't intentional. But I thought they looked really nice though.
So....lots went on since the last time I posted, sorry. So I won't say a whole lot because I should take a shower in about 15 minutes. So here are the three pictures I recently made:
That's the second picture with photography by me. I love the bright yellow against the black-and-white drain, but the soap really wasn't that bright, I digitally made it so it was that way. And obviously the sink wasn't black-and-white. :P.
This photo is by the flickr user kalandrakas. I can't really explain what the text is about or who it's too, because it's a closely guarded secret and any portion of it that's not a secret doesn't really make much sense without knowing the secret. This was really for a friend of mine, not art for the world, but I always put everything I make, whether it goes in the Published or Unpublished folder on my computer, on my blog. So here ya go. That reminds me, when I move to Toronto for college (only five years away! I'm sooo gonna get a countdown for my Myspace that's accurate to the second, lol) I want to be part of the Free Hugs Campaign (http://freehugscampaign.org) because I know what it's like to need a hug and not get one, especially for like, 99-year-old single women or something. Whenever I see a video of someone who's a part of it, it warms my heart so much.
So anyway, funkcartel posted 6 pictures on Revolution and said that maybe I could do something with them (because they're just raw images made from sound) and I have one done. I called it Harmonic Revelation for lack of a better name. I usually think of myself as pretty good at coming up with titles, but this image was juuuust vague enough to stump me. If anyone has a possible title, PLEASE post it in a comment! So here it is.
